  • Darius Twin - by Loopuze

    Introduction:

In this game, you are trying to fight an evil invasion after they have attacked and destroyed much of the galaxy. Giant fish alien craft are everywhere, and it's your job to take them down and restore peace and order to the universe as we know it!

    Graphics [8.5/10]:

For an oldie the graphics are suprisingly well done. Very detailed enemies, and just some very cool effects in parts. In one scene you fight a large enemy, then fly inside it's mouth to kill it from the inside! The effects of the weapons are very nice as well.

    Music and Sound [8/10]:

Some very odd music in this game. It adds to the ambience of the game though. Plenty of nice sound effects, although some of them could have been louder.

    Game Play [9/10]:

It's one of the best side view shooters I've ever played. When you beat a level, you get a choice of which level to go to next, on a web-like map, similar to Starfox. There are many, many levels. It's also a great game to play with a friend. The enemies I might add are all fishlike. Also, there are a LOT of weapon powerups, probably more than I've ever seen in a shooter. This makes you want to stay alive just so you can get the next best weapon.

    Challenge and Replay [9/10]:

A very challenging game, but not too hard. I beat it after a week or two, so it's not impossible. And after I beat it I had a great sense of acomplishment. The ending left something to be desired, but I didn't mind. It was great fun, with some very imaginative levels and bosses. I beat it probably 9 or 10 times too, just to see all the levels I hadn't played.

    Conclussion/Overall [9/10]:

A good game, if you see it, I would definately pick it up. It's bizzare, but good. I have a lot of memories of loving this game so I may be biased, but I think it's one of the great overlooked shooters.
